BREBES, Indonesia - Brebes Regent Hj Paramitha Widya Kusuma officially flagged off around 1,200 participants at the Healthy Fun Run Brebes 2025 event on Sunday morning, underlining the importance of health as a long-term investment for the community.

The 5-kilometre fun run, organised by the Brebes branch of the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI), started and finished at Karangbirahi Stadium at 6:00 a.m. local time. The event aimed to promote active lifestyles and improve public health awareness through mass participation in physical activity.

Participants from various backgrounds, including young people, families, running communities, and healthcare professionals, gathered early at the stadium. Local government officials and representatives of the regional leadership coordination forum (Forkopimda) attended the opening ceremony.

The race route passed through several main streets in Brebes city, including MT Haryono, Sultan Agung, Wangan Dalem, Padasugih, and Taman Siswa streets. Organisers recorded participation of approximately 1,200 runners, reflecting strong public enthusiasm for community-based sports and health campaigns.

In her remarks, Regent Paramitha expressed appreciation to IDI Brebes, sponsors, sports communities, and all participants for supporting the event. She emphasised that maintaining good health is an investment that directly affects quality of life and productivity.

“Simple initiatives such as running, walking, and staying active can have a significant impact on long-term health,” she said, adding that the Brebes administration would continue supporting programmes that encourage healthy behaviour beyond annual events.

She also reminded participants to uphold sportsmanship and prioritise safety during the run. “Winning is not the main goal; moving together for better health is what matters most,” Paramitha said.

Event chairperson dr Rahmat AB confirmed the event ran smoothly and received positive feedback from the public. Several participants expressed hope that similar activities would be held more frequently to strengthen public awareness of healthy lifestyles.

One participant, Dharazatin Alfena, who joined with a local running community, said the event motivated residents to adopt regular exercise habits. “Activities like this inspire people to stay active and take better care of their health,” she said.

Healthy Fun Run Brebes 2025 underscored a shared commitment between the local government, medical professionals, and the community to position physical activity and healthy living as long-term investments in public well-being.
